Meet Our Team
Our large staff of Speech/Language Pathologists is a source of strong skills in a variety of disorders. Each of us has a
Masters Degree in speech and language pathology and each of us is a resource in
some special way. Our staff meetings and in-services provide for lively
interaction and learning. Our entire operation is held together expertly by Dale
Enomoto who has a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Hawaii. Dale manages the office with patience, humor, and
intelligence. The enthusiasm and compatibility of our staff makes Oahu Speech a
special place to work.
Mary Marasovich, M.A./CCC/SLP
I received my
Masters
in speech/language pathology at a top program at California State
University, Stanislaus over 25 years ago (I was 10 years old) and have
never stopped learning. I earned a California audiometrist license and
a California Special Education Credential as well. A few of the many
continuing
education areas I have pursued are the LindamoodBell Visualizing and
Verbalizing Program, the Hanen Program
"Involving Parents as Language Facilitators, and countless seminars in
Stuttering, Cochlear Implant, Voice, Autism, Asperger's, Central
Auditory Processing, Foreign Accent Modifiction and Cleft Palate. Along
with Straub Radiologist Dr.
Robert May, I provide velopharyngeal competency
video studies for the entire state. I am the Hawaii dispenser for the
SpeechEasy device, an alternative to stuttering therapy.
(Click on links for more information on SpeechEasy). One of the best things
about our field is that it is so dynamic and diverse. It has allowed me
to work in public and private schools and hospitals, as well as direct
a California clinic, teach, supervise and eventually develop Oahu
Speech Language Pathology. I have never been bored! While being
well-trained is critical to serving you well, a strong sense of
professional responsibility and caring for the families who come to us
for help is also essential. Because my own three children are my
greatest achievement and my four grandchildren (Tori, Emily, Gianna and
Caleb), precious beyond words, I understand that nothing but the best
will do when it comes to your children. (One of my granddaughters
benefited from a Speech-Language Pathologist's good care in Maryland and can now say
her /s/ sound!)
Check out the rest of our staff below. We have the best.
Charlotte Freeman, M.S., CCC-SLP
I
graduated from Baylor University in 1991 and since then have had
a variety of very enriching experiences in this field. Due to my
husband's career in the Army we made several interesting moves abroad
and within the United States. We are now retired from
the military and chose to settle permanently back in Hawaii. I have
been able to work with both children and adults over the years and love
doing both. My experience extends to supervision of staff at a large
Rehabilitation/Nursing Center in Honolulu for 5 years. In addition to
my experience with adults, I have worked for the Department of
Education in Texas and Alabama and Arkansas. At Oahu Speech, I am able
to use all of my experience with both adults and children with many
types of disorders. It is so great to be back in Hawaii
doing what I love.
Jill Arnold, M.S., CCC-SLP
After
being inspired by several great courses at Windward Community College
in Kaneohe, Hawaii, I received a BS from University of New Mexico. In
2002, I earned a Masters in Speech-Language Sciences from the
University of the Pacific in California. My practicums included
the Scottish Rite Child Language Center, an elementary school and an
acute care hospital. As the Speech/Language Pathologist for a
wonderful charter
school in Albuquerque, I worked with children from kindergarten to 6th
grade. I was then fortunate to experience working with adults in a
large rehabilitation center. My husband and I hoped that we would some
day be able to live and work in Hawaii and now that is a happy
reality. I love my work and am grateful to be
in a setting which allows me to use my training with people of all ages
and to interact with such a knowledgeable and compatible staff.
Maggie Yeung, M.S., CCC-SLP
I
am so happy to be here in Hawaii, working with children and adults. I
have been here since 1997, when I came here from Macao, China as the
grateful recipient of the Asian Pacific Tuition Scholarship. My
practicum included the Scottish Rite Children's Center and several
elementary schools. I graduated in 2003 and did my Clinical
Fellowship Year at Variety School of Hawaii under the supervision of
Mary Marasovich of Oahu Speech Pathology. I continued working at
Variety School with learning challenged students for another year and
then went on to work with early intervention students through Easter
Seals of Hawaii. I am fluent in Cantonese and proficient in Mandarin
which is quit an asset here with our diverse population. I look forward
to my work every day because there is always a new challenge and it is the best kind of reward to be of help to children
and their families.
Stephanie Cole, M.S., CCC-SLP
I
have been a speech/language pathologist since 1989. My
undergraduate degree is from the University of Connecticut and my
master's is from the University of South Florida. In my 16 years of
experience, I have learned so much from working in a variety of
settings from hospitals to schools. In 2003, my husband and I
ventured to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands to work for a year. We
really enjoyed the tropical climate and the people. Hawaii
was a natural
transition for us and we love it here. My special interests in
speech pathology include language disorders, aphasia, autism,
stuttering, swallowing and voice, although I love solving all
kinds of speech/language problems and continue to seek interesting
challenges. I have done staff and clinical fellowship supervision
and really enjoy teaching new therapists. I look forward to claiming
Hawaii as my home for many years to come.
Corrie Wong, M.S., CCC-SLP
I am
a "local girl" who graduated from Punahou School and received a B.S.
from the University of Hawaii. I went on to San Francisco State
University for an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology in 2003, and
happily returned home to begin my career. My practicum experience was
at several elementary schools and a large rehabilitation hospital.and I
found time to volunteer extensively in children's programs. for 4 years I worked closely with an Austic child,
helping to implement a comprehensive program for him and his
family. My Clinical
Fellowship Year was here at Oahu Speech and I gained experience working
with a range of people from preschool age to adults. I thoroughly
enjoy therapy with each age level. I am committed to working with
families since they are crucial to the progress of the patient.
Aaron K. Koseki, Jr. “Ken”, M.S., CCC-SLP
I am a 1998
graduate of
Punahou School. I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree in
Psychology with a concentration in psychobiology in 2002 from
California Lutheran University. After returning home, I earned a
Master’s of Science from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in
Speech Pathology in August of 2005. As a student, I completed
internships at a preschool for speech/language delayed children as well
as at a rehabilitation hospital for adults. I began working for Oahu
Speech at Variety School of Hawaii in September of 2005 and have
enjoyed every moment. I have had the opportunity to meet new people and
experience what it means to be a speech and language pathologist in
Hawaii. I’ve always valued working with children. Growing up in
Hawaii, I first started working with young children at the Kaimuki YMCA
in Honolulu and much later at the City and County summer program in
Waimanalo. Prior to becoming a speech pathologist, I worked as an
autism skills trainer for almost three years. Working with autistic
children has been an interest of mine ever since. One of the many
reasons I like this field is because of the diverse age range of
individuals that one encounters while on the job. I have become
certified in the Compton Pronouncing English as a Second Language
Program, enabling me to work with adults who want to improve the way
they pronounce English. I enjoy working with
both children and adults whether it involves speech, language, voice,
or swallowing, and everyday is a new adventure!
Terri LeSage-Oyamot, M.S./CCC/SLP
Hi my name is Terri
LeSage-Oyamot, I have been working for Oahu Speech & Language since
Jan. 2001. I have to say it is a wonderful place to work and I LOVE my
job! I received my B.S. degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders
from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1995. In 1998
I received my M.S. degree from the University of Hawaii at Manoa in
Speech Language Pathology. Prior to working at Oahu Speech I worked in
a school for children with Autism. I am very interested in working with
children diagnosed with Autism and Central Auditory Processing Disorders. I really enjoy working with
children from birth to three because it is so rewarding. I enjoy seeing
the progress they make, the family interaction, and the joys and
laughter that comes daily. Working at Oahu Speech has made me never
regret my decision to leave the Navy and become a Speech Pathologist. A
Speech Pathologist is such a rewarding career and working at Oahu
Speech has enhanced those joys. During my free time I enjoy spending
time with my family. It doesn’t matter if it is going to hula
performances or just getting together and relaxing it’s always
enjoyable.
Taryn Shinagawa M.S./CCC/SLP
I graduated from
California State University, Northridge in 2000 with a B.A. in
Communication Disorders and Sciences and 2 years later, with a M.S.
After graduation I moved back home to Hawaii and began working for Oahu
Speech Language Pathology Consultants in December of 2002. Working with
children has always been an interest of mine. Entering college I
considered majoring in teaching, but looked into speech pathology first
and ended up where I am today. My experience as a student involved
working with the early intervention population, working as a speech aid
in public schools, being a group leader for an Asperger's/autism social
communication group, and completing an internship in a few nursing
homes on Oahu. Each job allowed me to experience new aspects of the
field of speech pathology and helped me discover my place in this
field. I have been working for this company for over a year now ! and
the children I encounter remind me everyday of the pleasures of being a
speech pathologist.
